Short Men Issues

Posted by jeromefaraday on April 24, 2013

heart in sandSometimes, I hear from short men who tough they have it. While short guys aren’t typically a part of a disadvantaged group, there’s no doubt that, especially for a guy, being taller is associated with more success. And, for many short men, they hear about it all the time.

I am shorter than average and I heard it all the time growing up. People weren’t typically mean or malicious. They’d say something like “he’s so little” and mean it in a cute sort of way. But, as a child, I took it the wrong way.

At school, it was just as hard. We’d line up by height and it was always known that those at the shorter end were less popular. The same was true for playing sports. And, you don’t even want to get me started on the short men dating issues!

But, like with anything, short men issues can go away with the right attitude. As I’ve taken control of my life in other ways and gained confidence and joy, I’ve noticed the height issues also disappeared.

Dating, work, and other forms of success have started to come naturally and have nothing to do with my height. In fact, taking a create your own reality attitude is much more important in the grand scheme of things then any alleged limitation at birth.

So, I challenge every shorter guy to actually get over his issues and stop being so hindered by his height. You create your own reality. While you can’t change your height it doesn’t have to hold you back in any way: at work, with friends, dating, or anything! Create your own reality and get out there and make the world a better and more loving place!

I think that you’re a deluded short man, like so many other short men. You say that you “challenge every shorter guy to actually get over his issues and stop being so hindered by his height”. Would you also challenge every Black man, every Hispanic man, every Muslim man, every Jewish man, every Gay man, etc. to “actually get over his issues and stop being so hindered”? No. Of course you wouldn’t. When a Black man claims discrimination, he’s not told to “get over” his Blackness is he? When a member of any other group is discriminated against he can always look to his compadres for support, can’t he? When a member of any other group is a victim of discrimination, the blame falls on the discriminator not the victim, isn’t that right? Tell me, why do you delude yourself like this? Why do you blame short men for the wrongful discrimination that they face from society and put the onus on them?

Hello Joe, I am a short man who’s eyes are open to the injustices we short men face everyday. I have listened to all of your broadcasts and all through out my life I’ve felt that I was being treated differently in a negative way, but could never quite understand why. When you explained the system of heightism I immediately understood why as a confirmation and how heightism effects my life daily. I try to enlighten other shorters however like author above many are either deluded or in denial. And of course the tallers never could care or understand. Heightism almost just seems like an impossible battle. Really appreciate the informative broadcasts and waiting for more.

  2. Great website you have here but I was wondering if you knew of any forums that cover the same topics talked about
in this article? I’d really like to be a part of community where I can get advice from other experienced individuals that share the same interest. If you have any suggestions, please let me know. Cheers!

It seems that no one can talk about heightism without some opportunist or fraud trying to capitalize on the insecurity of short men with respect to their height and attempting to lure them into some grow-taller scam.
